History from the top!
The fest was born when Mitch Lind and Kermit Weeks became
music pals sometime in 1994 and later decided to try their luck at a music
festival. The name Wings and Strings was coined and it was on it's
way. Fantasy of Flight was a great place for the event, and featured
all sorts of aerial displays...after all , it was at the worlds greatest
display of historical aircraft! Not really
understanding that the easy part was putting the show together and
the hard part was gaining an audience, the first year had about as
many people back stage as it did in the audience! It hurt! After
this fiasco, they
went to Snowbird, Utah later that year to ski, and while sitting in a hot
tub having a rum & coke, Kermit decided to give it another shot. For
the next 6 years the audience grew (check out the aerial
pictures). It was an amazing event!
For reasons sort of unknown, Kermit decided he did not want to continue the
show at Fantasy of Flight. He was supportive in the idea to take it to
another venue, and still attends yearly with his wife Teresa and daughter
Katie.
Lind Entertainment Corp was formed in March of 2002 and the festival was renamed RIVERHAWK
(Either that...or start a Chicken Wings & Strings and have a wing
cook-off!) The show was moved from the Fantasy
of Flight Aviation Attraction to the Peace River Campground. After only one
year in Arcadia, the fest found it's current home at the Sertoma Ranch. A
few years later a new sister festival was started and coined
STRINGBREAK. Both events are now owned and directed by the Lind Family
. There are over 13,000 contacts in our data base, and a combined attendance
of around 5000 attend these shows through each year.
Lind Entertainment Corp has now ventured into new territory planning events
and festivals for other venues; providing stage and sound contracts and
artist booking.
Thanks to all of you folks that have supported us through the years! We love
ya!
